The Outstanding Pieces of Chanel Paris-Bombay Metiers d’Art 2012

With every collection that Chanel releases, the brand also releases a capsule collection of what it calls Outstanding Pieces. As you know if you’re a regular PurseBlog reader, the pieces are exactly what they sound like – special or exotic in some way that sets them apart from the rest of the collection, both in aesthetic and price. The best example of the separation is Spring 2012’s pearl-dotted sea shell clutches, which cost an eye-popping $48,000 apiece.

Perhaps it’s the afterglow of that collection that makes me feel a bit lukewarm toward the Chanel Paris-Bombay Metiers d’Art 2012 Outstanding Pieces, or maybe it’s just that the regular Paris-Bombay handbag collection is so full of pieces with unique details and personality. These bags are great, particularly the Boy Chanel bags with stingray insets, but they don’t feel like they have quite the attention-grabbing power that the Outstanding Pieces usually have. Or maybe I’m just nuts? Either way, check out the four bag collection after the jump and then let us know how you feel in the comments.
