The understated elegance Tomas Maier creates for Bottega Veneta translates across all platforms, from his collections to his campaigns. The latest video showcasing The Art of Collaboration from the house was directed by Tomas, along with famed Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki.
Bottega Veneta is known for beautiful designs, and while you shouldn’t expect the next trendy bag from the house, you should expect to see new timeless bags. There are so many bags from Bottega Veneta that I love, and now add the new Olimpia Bag to my lust-list.
Bottega Veneta and craftsmanship go hand in hand, but most customers never get to witness the work of the brand’s meticulously trained Italian artisans. When the opportunity to watch them ply their craft presents itself, you don’t want to miss it.
Two years ago, Bottega Veneta introduced a personalization service, aptly named Bottega Veneta Initials. Vlad and I were part of the launch of this event in Italy and were able to see how the artisans from the Bottega Veneta atelier carefully added the letters to BV’s signature Intrecciato bags.
One of my first major designer handbag purchases was a Bottega Veneta bag on a trip to Venice, Italy. It was a dream in every way; it was my first trip to Italy, the weather was immaculate and the store was beautiful.
Last season, Bottega Veneta’s runway handbag display was a little sparse for a brand that’s so widely known and beloved for its fine leather goods, and I couldn’t help but wonder if that meant the brand was attempting to shift more of the focus to Tomas Maier’s luxurious, elegant ready-to-wear.
Charlize Theron was recently spotted running a few casual errands in LA while carrying a sumptuous, woven leather Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Nappa Convertible Bag. Bottega Veneta bags really seem to do wonders for classing up any outfit (see: Kim Kardashian), even when you’re just running around town in Nike sneaks.
Paps recently caught up with Kim Kardashian on her way into the Heritage Auctions offices in Beverly Hills, carrying a bag we’re calling the Bottega Veneta Crocodile Shoulder Bag. This exotic bag fits in nicely with the rest of Kim’s high-end minimalist, post-Kanye wardrobe, but sadly, as with nearly every other bag we’ve seen on the arm of a celeb this week, it is not yet available to the public.
If you’re in the mood for a fun, exuberant, spring-like bag collection, Bottega Veneta Spring 2014 is simply not for you. On the other hand, if you’d like something slightly dour and vaguely Japanese (in the bags, at least – there was no vagueness in the clothes), well, step right up and take a look.
