I’m in the mood for a picnic today. We somehow managed to get seven inches of snow last weekend, out of nowhere, and that’s more snow than has ever fallen where I live. It was 60 degrees the day before the snow fell, and now, less than a week later, the temperature is in the 70s and the sun is shining. Because of the shade that my front porch gets during the day, it’s still covered in 2 or 3 inches of snow and ice, despite the fact that all I want to do is go to the park and sit in the grass and feel the sun. The orange check pattern would probably be picnic-y even on flat leather, but when you add the extra visual element of Bottega’s signature woven construction, there is just enough depth to really remind me of the ever-present outdoor tablecloths (but in a good way). The intricate texture of pattern-on-pattern limits the number of ways this bag could be worn, but if extra cash on hand wasn’t a problem, it seems like it would be a lot of fun to pair with something solid-colored…I’m picturing a royal blue linen sundress for a bit of contrast. I remember learning about the lunar cycle when I was a kid. I found myself infatuated with how the moon changed shape, brightness, and location. Of course, I was pretty young when this first infatuation occurred. Well, over time, I still find myself fixated with the moon. Sometimes it is so big and bright, other times it is a small sliver and yet other times it is perfectly cut in half. Just as I am infatuated with the moon, I can also find myself infatuated with Bottega Veneta handbags. BV has gone over the top before while trying to do too much at once. This is not a problem here. The soft color matched with detailing gives you a bag that is sure to last for seasons to come. My endless hours of wedding planning is truly cutting into my day, mostly my night. While the wedding planning is taking the first 8 hours of the day (I know, that seems excessive but this last month before the weeding seems hectic as anything!), my work ends up being rather short, and my relaxing is totally killed. The end-of-the-day hang out period is much needed and now my entire being feels overloaded. Need more rest. Need more decompressing. Need my life back. So now you get my blog entry from my bed. Sitting up? No. Lights on? No. I am literally laying in the same position that I will soon drift off to sleep in, maybe in the next 5 minutes. My laptop will somehow end up flung onto the ground, and it won’t upset me, as it does not directly affect my wedding. I crave more rest. And I am finding a great handbag that can give that, believe it or not.

Our home is a four level condo. Right when you walk in we have shelving for our shoes, mail, boxes, car keys, and my handbag. But I keep the majority of my handbags in our closet and keep the one I am using downstairs. The hundreds of stairs has seriously impeded on my switching out bags, because really, who would want to walk down three flights of stairs only to realize they did not bring the right bag down? This leaves me running out of the house with only my wallet. And my wallet has doubled over as a clutch many times. My LV Zip Around Wallet easily includes all of my credit cards, cash, phone, and car keys. It is the wallet equivalent of Mary Poppins bags. Love it. My wallet is constantly used, thrown in every bag, including my Hermes Kelly Long (which totally made our LV SA laugh!). And I love this wallet, but it is starting to get dirty and starting to look at me oh-so-tiredly. Does it need to be replaced?

When it comes to Bottega Veneta handbags I tend to gravitate towards what the brand is known for: rich, luxurious leather. So, when I see one of their handbags which seems to veer off of the BV path I’ve grown to know and love I am usually a bit skeptical. I find myself in that place when it comes to the Bottega Veneta Printed Canvas Tote. This orange and beige canvas tote has the traditional intrecciato look but it is a print, not an actual weave. The tote has brown leather straps, brown leather piping, studs on the side and a large inside zipped pocket. I do like the casual look that the tote has. With the price associated to most BV handbags, I would tend to think that although the bag could be carried around day to day, it also emulates expensive taste (which there is nothing wrong with, by the way). So, I guess if you are going for a casual BV bag, this could be the one. Yet, I am still torn. What do you think? Should BV stick to the basics or continue to venture out and try new things? On the other hand, the clutch is overly simple, almost too simple, and is rather expensive. So what is your thought on the Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Woven Clutch in bright blue? This is the larger foldover clutch in this style from BV; Width 10″; Height 5″; Depth 4″. This clutch expands quite nicely, with press studs at the side to expand and two open compartments and a zipped compartment on the inside.
