Our friends at Bottega Veneta let us in on the project they have been working on for quite some time, the next generation of BottegaVeneta.com. Here are three reasons why you should check it out:

A more interactive and luxury shopping experience

Part of the reason people love going into a designer boutique is for the shopping experience. The fancy shelves, tangible products, and great feeling of walking out of a store with a big shopping bag. Personally, I appreciate the one-on-one attention and the luxury feel of the stores I shop in. However, with our lives getting busier and fancy boutiques being often too far away, we turn to online shopping.

Bottega Veneta is known for the experience their stores offer customers. One of the main reasons for the site overhaul was to give their online shoppers the most luxurious and personal shopping experience possible. What matters most to me are the visual aspects of a site. I want to see an item in large, clean, and crisp pictures. Bottega Veneta now offers this, along with multiple views and even video looks. The overall shopping experience has been refined to make navigation through categories and areas easy.

My shopping picks from top left to right: Flannel Shiny Python Cosmetic Case, White Gold Pepita Ring, Flannel Cashmere Headband, Runway Look 8, Fuchsia Veneta, Billiard Suede Cashmere Wedge Bootie, and Opera Intrecciato Plume Crossbody Bag.

Discover the Hand of the Artisan, one of the most integral parts of the Bottega Veneta brand

The brand is ubiquitous with craftsmanship and quality. Being able to see the hand of the artisan is not only an interesting addition to the website, but imperative to see for anyone interested in the brand. By witnessing the work being done on Bottega Veneta pieces, the understanding of the work that artisans create gives further understanding to the brand itself. Remember, the classic Intrecciato Cabat takes two people two full days to weave the leather into the seamless shape! Discover the Hand of the Artisan at Bottega Veneta online.

Preview, browse, watch, look, repeat

The new BottegaVeneta.com is revamped in a way to bring you every opportunity to be a part of the brand. The new site is all about engaging the visitor. That is why the shopping experience is tightly integrated with the runway video experience. This in turn is integrated with the hand of the artisan experience which is then further tied together with previewing upcoming collections. The transition from section to section is seamless, which makes the site unfortunately a little difficult to navigate. It is easy to get lost, I know I have.

On the new website, Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier explains, “We wanted to convey the quality of the materials, the meticulousness and individuality of the craftsmanship, the timelessness of the design, and the subtlety of the palette. I’m very proud of the result. Visually, the site is a true reflection of the brand – understated, luxurious, beautiful, and functional. We are finally able to invite our customers into the complete narrative of Bottega Veneta, beginning with the artisan and continuing to the final product.”

I checked out the website last night and I have to say, I am not really impressed by new updated version of the website. I don’t prefer the old one either, but I don’t think its any better than the last one.

The new BV website is very disappointing.

Why doesn’t the website show the inside of the bags? Why doesn’t it tell us the names of the other colors available in a style instead of us just pointing to a color? Why don’t we have the color number available – because many of the sales associates don’t know the correct colors of the bags – so we know we’re getting the color we asked for? These are what I wish the website would include.

I couldn’t agree more. I wish they would work more on the practical side instead of the stylish side.

I’m betting BV will be reading this and will take all comments into consideration (well, I hope!).

I do like the fact that there are large photos now, which for me is very helpful, but there is additional info that clearly is helpful to the shoppers that has not been integrated yet

I love that they show the work and detail that goes into creating each bag!

I love the hot pink bag, and I am not a BV fan at all. However, I love the picture of the artisans making the bags. Those make one appreciate the work that comes into making each and everyone of them.

I miss the larger selection of bags that was available on the old site, this one has a very limited selection even though the shoe selection is better. They should really increase the selection on the site if they want people to be very impressed.

i love that the new site is not flash… i am disabled and need to zoom entire websites, with the old site i had to use a magnifying glass on the screen, not fun… so i love the new site! i hope it works on my ipad!

  • Loquita

I *LOVE*the fuchsia bag!! To me, BV means impeccable craftsmanship and chic – but sometimes it can be a bit too staid for my wardrobe. That’s why I like the fuchsia – it’s a bit naughty. I would definitely wear it.

  • The Fashion for Less

Those shoes are killer but I just don’t have the confidence to wear them around but they’re unique and cute (my fave word! LOL)

Darn it! Gotta find another pair that’s so close to how this looks.
