If you’ve never considered participating in an auction, now might be the time to try. Even a traditional auction through a house like Heritage Auctions is often the source of amazing deals on rare, limited edition or hard-to-find bags, often because the majority of bag buyers either don’t know to look there or are intimidated by the mechanics of a non-eBay auction.

My fellow Proenza Schouler-obsessed friends, rejoice. The brand is back on Rue La La today at 11 AM EST, which means savings on brand favorites like the PS11 (couldn’t you just die over the color pictured?) and various iterations of the PS1 in amazing colors. I should also mention that there are shoes (!).
Getting your hands on the brand’s insta-cool products at a markdown isn’t an opportunity that comes around all that often, and while I totally respect a luxury brand’s need to maintain their allure and manage the brand through extremely limited discounting…I just can’t help myself.
Is it just me, or was this week the longest one ever? The last several have been truncated by holidays, travel days and, in my case, strep throat, so doing a full five days of honest work felt like a marathon this week. The good news, though, is that we’re all on mile 23 or so – we’re almost done! The other good news, of course, is that it’s time for our weekly roundup of the best bag deals to be found online.
They keep happening. Sales, that is. Sometimes I feel like complaining about it because I can barely keep up with them, but really, who complains over amazing sales from their favorite stores? This time, the store is Nordstrom and its Winter Savings event has items marked up to 50% off. I immediately scoured the handbag section and found the bags that I would love to splurge on.
FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY! (Go ahead, read it in the voice from a monster truck rally commercial. Go with me on this mental journey.) The best part of a short week like this is that you get to end it with a Friday without having to do the full unpleasantness of having four days of work before it (and if you did, my apologies), but you still reap all the benefits of a regular Friday: happy hour, date night, or maybe just some takeout and Netflix.
I don’t know about you, but JUST when I think I’m completely shopped out and I can’t possibly find anything else to add to my collection, another amazing round of sales pops up.
Net-A-Porter’s final sale doesn’t disappoint – there are great deals to be had across all categories (act fast, I saw a PS1 carryall in the bags section). Even though the size selection is somewhat limited in the clothing, I managed to scare up a handful of fantastic items.
At this point in the season, it’d be reasonable to be a little shopped out. You’re here reading this post, though, which means that you probably have a little bit left in your tank (or your wallet). As we posit every Friday, we think a discounted handbag would be the best way to fill out your post-holiday closet, and we’re prepared to back up that assertion with this week’s best bag deals.
Today is my personal favorite holiday. Since my family spends Christmas going to the movies and testing out the various Chinese restaurants on the Upper West Side, I’m not super attached to Christmas. I am, however, attached to the day-after-Christmas sales. This morning, I scored a pair of Pradas and a pair of Miu Mius and got both for under $400.
We love any sale that emphasizes handbags, obviously, and the Semi-Annual Handbag Sale within the Bloomingdale’s After Christmas Sale and Clearance is pretty great, especially if you’re looking to score a bag from designers like Rebecca Minkoff, Tory Burch, Marc by Marc Jacobs or Kate Spade. For my money, Bloomingdale’s also has the best markdowns on clothes – you won’t believe how much they discount stuff during a good sale.
The best sales are when the sale goes on sale. Ok, so I know a sentence that uses one word three times can be a little hard to follow, but here’s what’s going on with our friends at Kate Spade: Now through January 6, you can take an extra 25% off sale items with code 25SALE. With Spade’s already-generous discounts, that means you can get anything from an adorable new bag to some new statement jewelry at a huge discount off of retail.
