Marc by Marc Jacobs Poppy Square Shoulder Bag

Aug 21, 2008 / Posted in Bag Deals by Megs Mahoney Dusil.

Seriously, Marc by Marc Jacobs bags can do little wrong. Go on and tell me that some of their bags are total misses, but the beauty behind the designs is that they are affordable, wearable, and usually rather cute. And when it comes down to it, Marc Jacobs is a designer genius. And he goes to prove it again with the simplicity of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Poppy Square Shoulder Bag which is a toned-down version of an urban messenger bag. There are quite a few reasons why I love this bag; the creamy supple leather, the handheld and long strap, and casual style. The inside shows off a funky pop of color with pink lining. There is also the practicality of the bag. Marc Jacobs loves to use pockets and zippers, which I could always use more of! There is a zipped compartment at the front, two open pockets on the inside, and a small zipped pouch on the inside. And then there is the price! We will definitely label this as a bag deal, because it is under $400! Buy through Net A Porter for $390.

Cute! I wonder if Nordstrom will have this too, it’d be great! I need an everyday bag and I think this one is perfect. $400 is not that bad either. I hope the white leather won’t transfer though. If this bag comes in different colors it’ll be great.

Megs: Yes, I agree with the affordability of the MJ bags, but that´s it. Actually I have doubt´s about his creativity as for now. I´ve seen similarities with other designers bags, only MJ´s bags came out later. He seems to `design´non-stop, like a mad man. If he only would slow down, breathe deep, take a vacation, whatever, maybe then we could see something special.

This is adorable! The shape looks very wearable and cream doesn’t get as dirty as stark white, I suppose. The pop of pink sounds fun. The more I look at his designs, the more I like them. Maybe a Marc Jacobs should be a personal goal.

Do you think this bag is big enough for use with a small laptop?

It looks really elegant but also a bag that one could use for work too.

I recently bought a marc jacobs bag and the Marc by Marc Jacobs is written similarly like the one on this bag, in metallic silver lettering. My sister said this lettering would eventually wear off…is this true???
