Get your sparkle on this fall. It seems Swarovski crystals are one of the fiercest trends of the season. With the influence of Swarovski crystals by Balmain on everything from boots, to handbags and jeans, the tiny bits of Austrian sparkle are not just for jewelry any more. We love a bit of glitz now and then and all taken in moderation. (more…)
Halloween is approaching quickly. It is one of my favorite holidays. I love seeing people en route to a costume party or just running an errand dressed in full Halloween attire. The creativity of the costumes seen on San Francisco streets is an inspiration to behold. Many of the costumes seen on Halloween are extremely ornate and beautiful or shockingly frightening. I may not be dressing up in my traditional costume ball attire this year, but I do have my eye on some spooky clothing and skull inspired handbags to join in the frightening fun on October 31st. Along with the arrival of fall comes a more practical attitude to dressing. Gone are the easy breezy casual days of summer when I could simply throw on a sundress and sandals. With the arrival of Autumn comes back-to-school, crisp cool weather and a more hectic schedule.
Now that my daughter is in pre-school I find I have to carry many more items while we rush out the door in the morning. I need a practical stylish tote with plenty of room for snacks; hand wipes and sippy cups. A chic and roomy brown leather tote will perfectly match my chunky cashmere sweaters and Burberry trench. Add some sparkle to your step this fall with a sequined handbag. This season it is all about luxe embellishments. Paillettes and sequins adorn handbags that can be worn both day and night. The dazzling surface, texture and color will get you noticed. Simply pair a sequined bag with an all black outfit comprised of skinny jeans for day or with a pretty and minimalist cocktail dress for evening. (more…)
With the onset of fall comes cooler weather and many more social occasions. Now through New Years the number of occasions to wear my little black dresses increases dramatically. Dressing for evenings out on the town require a bit of advance planning. This year my LBD du jour is from Alexander Wang. The Alexander Wang Spider lace bandage dress ($775 at Net-a-Porter) has cocktail party style wrapped up with an asymmetric shoulder and bandage style detailing. The dress is super stretchy and body hugging as well. I’m going to need to do a few extra sessions of Pilates to look great in this dress! A spectacular black clutch is required for this Alexander Wang dress. (more…)
The Marc by Marc Jacobs RTW Spring 2010 collections presented most all of the female models wearing gigantic bows on their heads. You’d have to be blind to have missed the neon fuchsia, red and blue swathes of fabric walking down the runway. It was all in tune with the very prevalent ’80s theme. Or perhaps it is an ode to Madonna. Can you say “Desperately Seeking Susan” or ginormous bunny ears at the Met ball, anyone? Thus, we are also seeing a common trend in bow-embellished handbags. Perhaps it is part of the ’80s revival as well. We found a few bags with a serious bow element to them. (more…)
Everyone at Luna Boston loves a good party, and a couple weeks ago was no exception. The Diane von Furstenberg event was one of the biggest we’ve ever had – there was a line around the block to get in before the doors even opened! Amanda and Jennifer started setting up for the event at 9am and didn’t stop until 10 minutes before the event started, when they finally had time to get ready!
For those of you that weren’t able to attend, we held the event in a penthouse suite at the FP3 condominiums in the Fort Point section of Boston. I felt like a rockstar at this place – it has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a terrace, and a roof deck! (And it’s on the market for a cool $2.5 mil if you’re interested!) Hillary France, our representative from the Diane von Furstenberg showroom, was there to help us show the Fall collection to attendees. (Did we mention that Hillary looks like a goddess? Tall with long, bright red hair, looks awesome in everything she wears; Basically, she’s perfect. We’re jealous. But I digress.) (more…)
Again this fall we are seeing shades of deep blue in beauty trends. Indigo eyeshadow, Navy mascara, and a rerun from 2008, Midnight blue nail color. The most luxurious shades of midnight-blue nail color are Chanel Blue Satin nail color and Dior Poison Blue. To coordinate with my blue-black nail color a blue-hued handbag is in order. I am loving all of the blue handbag options this season it will pair perfectly with black, my go-to color for this season’s dresses and coats. Some how this darker shade is a refreshing change and putting me in the mood to dress and accessorize for cooler autumn weather. (more…)
What a better way to complement your Burberry trench than with a pair of sleek Burberry rain boots? I have a couple pair of Hunter wellie rain boots, the originals made in Scotland. I wear them with skinny jeans and leggings with sweater during the rainy season. I often wish my Hunter wellies were a little more sophisticated and polished. That’s why I love these Burberry rainboots. Each of these three styles is waterproof and great for sloshing thru puddles, yet chic enough to wear with my black Burberry trench. (more…)
The lace up ankle boot is one of our favorite go-to styles for shoes this fall. Think sleek and edgy or casual chic. These the are the modern redux of the granny boot. This fall’s ankle boots take a stance with a higher heel and many fine details such as grommets, buckles and the platform sole for added height. Lace-up ankle boots will look fierce with black leggings, skinny jeans, or even a fitted black pencil skirt at the office. Styles range from rocker glam to sand colored suede for an luxe uptown look. Three American brothers who have not spoken to each other in a year set off on a train voyage across India with a plan to find themselves and bond with each other — to become brothers again like they used to be. Their “spiritual quest”, however, veers rapidly off-course (due to events involving over-the-counter pain killers, Indian cough syrup, and pepper spray), and they eventually find themselves stranded alone in the middle of the desert with eleven suitcases a printer, and a laminating machine. At this moment, a new, unplanned journey suddenly begins.
