It’s that time of year again, when celebrities make the grand voyage to New Jersey to attend the Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic and pretend they like or understand polo. I love the pageantry of polo: the food, the champagne, the horses, the outfits, the stomping of the divots and, of course, the handbags.

Every few weeks, the celeb bag trend cycle resets itself, and everyone starts falling back on classic handbags from Hermès, Prada and the like. The hot new bags are still represented here (hello, Chloé Faye!), as are some increasingly popular designer clutch picks for the red carpet, but the big name brands definitely have the majority in this week’s first celebrity bag roundup.
Our metaphorical cup runneth over with celebrity handbags. We’re still sorting through pics from the hours preceding the Met Ball, and people’s pre-Ball handbags were sometimes more interesting than what they wore later that evening. And yes, you’re right, the Met Ball was last week, but there was so much to look at that we thought a tour through the pre-party looks we missed might be in order, plus some top-notch celebrity looks from the past few days.
