With the arrival of August, one thing is undeniable: Fall and Winter are coming, despite the fact that it continues to be more than 90 degrees outside in Georgia. I love winter clothing, probably because I have always lived in a climate that makes wearing your cold weather gear a rare treat – flip flops are temperature-appropriate footwear here at least 9 months out of the year, not to mention the occasional 70 degree day in February. I haven’t seen accumulated snowfall since January of ’04.

I find that most who love handbags have an affinity for keychains. It all goes hand in hand, and really, a cute key chain is a nice little touch to your car keys. Right now I have a Louis Vuitton keychain, a great Christmas gift from a friend, attached to my car keys. But I have always liked the idea of the key pouch, the key chain that allows you to stash some cash, credit card, id, and that is all you need. I have a key pouch from Bottega Veneta, yet I always forget to use it. It is simple, just as Bottega likes to be, but what if you want a little more spice and zest?

There are certain people out there in the fashion ether (most notably some folks at the paper of record, The New York Times), that think sunglasses are the new handbags. I find the idea of one inanimate material good being the ‘new’ other inanimate material good kind of inane and annoying, but hey, they’ve got to fill up their Style section with something, I suppose.

But, if you’re going to buy in to the NYT’s ridiculous assertion that sunglasses are the new must-have accessory (were sunglasses ever NOT must-have? Don’t they perform an important, practical function?), I whole-heartedly suggest that you start by finding the perfect aviator for your face.

Limoncello Necklace & Discus Necklace limoncello necklace At times, it can be a challenge to find unique jewelry. At the first hint of something new, people like Forever 21 are falling all over themselves to copy it and sell it to the teens of American as quickly as possible. Not everyone can break the bank to buy one-of-a-kind pieces (ahem…I certainly can’t), but everyone deserves the chance to develop their own personal style, right? I certainly think so.

Although Anthroplogie is certainly a big chain store (and part of an even larger company that includes Urban Outfitters, another terrible jewelry and accessories copier), it seems like their buyers go to great lengths to pay attention to detail and find unique pieces. According to the salesperson I talked to at their Lenox Square Atlanta store today, for many of their more expensive pieces (in the $100-$200 range), stock is limited to 2-3 pieces per location so that someone buying from them can be sure that they’re getting something that they won’t see half their friends wearing.

I’m just not an outside girl. Amanda loves her air-conditioning, refrigerator and pajamas. I’ve never been camping, skiing, or a big fan of going to the lake (I do love the beach, though, but that’s neither here nor there). Sweating makes my hair frizz and my makeup travel around my face. So, on outdoor-centric holidays such as this past July 4th, yours truly was not exactly out there flippin’ burgers on the grill. I come from a long line of women with the same attitude, and what I have learned from them in my 22 years is that there are people out there – people that run mid-tier cable networks – that feel our pain, and on most holidays, there are glorious marathons of wonderful television shows and movies to entertain us while the crazies do things outside.

There are several on that piqued my interest this past Friday: What Not to Wear, The Twilight Zone, NCIS. It’s a veritable buffet of television options to mesmerize me for hours. What I’m really interested in, however, is the 8 hours of Alfred Hitchcock’s best movies on TCM. ‘Psycho,’ ‘Vertigo,’ ‘The Birds,’ and ‘Rear Window.’ My mom used to watch Hitchcock movies with me when I was little and I couldn’t sleep, and ever since, I have a deep and abiding love for every movie the man ever made (and his TV show).

While I appreciate coveted designer handbags, my true passion lies in cars. Don’t blame me, I am a dude like any other. Just happen to administer a Purse Blog on the Interweb. About a month ago, I reported on Hermès’ upcoming collaboration with the luxury car manufacturer Bugatti. Finally, the beast was revealed at this year’s Genova Car Show – and oh my, it is a gorgeous specimen. While the exquisite Bugatti Veyron Fbg par Hermès boasts the same 1001 hp quad-turbocharged 16 cylinder engine from the original Veyron, its distinct character manifests in the details.

The new Veyron derives its name from the historic Hermès headquarters on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, in the heart of Paris’ eighth arrondissement. It sports eight-spoked wheels in polished aluminum, central butterfly wheel locks branded with the prominent letter ‘H’, and air vents around the rims aim to reproduce the characteristic appearance of traidtional Hermès saddle-stitching. The horseshoe radiator grille, and the lateral ventilation grilles flanking it, are made from lightweight alloys with a design of interlocking H’s which evoke the Hermès signature. The inner surfaces of the Veyron Fbg are designed and sheathed in bull calfskin at the Hermès workshops in Paris by the same mastered hands that give us purse fetishists the coveted Birkin and Kelly bags.

The center console features a special compartment for the Hermès Globetrotter agenda, the leather-lined trunk holds a specially-fitted “Toile H” leather case. With a price tag of 1.55 million Euros (excluding taxes), the Veyron Fbg par Hermès will remain an unattainable subject of lust for most of us. The lucky, selected few will take their deliveries towards the end of this year. What an absolutely astonishing, most awesome and desirable vehicle, for car and bag fetishists alike.

Constance Tisdale is the designer behind the brand It’s Myne designs. She specializes in using 925 sterling silver and Swarovski crystals. You can pick from all letters of the alphabet, a heart, or the circular bamboo bones collection.
