Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

Aug 20, 2008 / Posted in Accessories by Amanda Mull.

So, we don’t do a whole lot of chit-chat about beauty products here, and for good reason. This IS a purse blog, after all, despite my penchant for posting about sunglasses, shoes, luggage, Project Runway, soon Gossip Girl (12 days! *Head explodes*) and lots of other things that aren’t handbags. I don’t follow direction well. Chalk it up to my “artistic temperament.”

I generally try to play along, though, but I bought something a little while back that I think someone out there might really like, so I’m compelled to share, even if it’s not a bag. So if you could humor me for just a moment, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have unreasonably dry skin (thanks, mom!). I’m 22 years old and using moisturizer made for post-menopausal women with wrinkles, and still, my skin is thirsty. This problem has always made it impossible for me to get the dewy, glowy look that so many women my age have on the red carpet, much to my chagrin.

Well, I got a product not too long ago that, all of a sudden, did it for me – the new Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. Put the stuff on and boom – radiant, supple-looking skin that looks like I just slept a thousand years in a vat of Oil of Olay. I still have to wear my regular moisturizer and an oil-based primer under it, but with those things together, my skin feels and LOOKS soft and wonderful all day, something that’s normally not attainable to me.

A warning for girls with normal or oily skin: this product is SHINY. I imagine it would work great for you guys if mixed with your regular foundation (which is what it’s actually meant to do), but I wouldn’t advise wearing it all by itself. For girls with dry skin – give it a try by itself! If I get too much shine in one place, all I do is dust a tiny bit of powder over it and it goes away. Overall, it’s a great, easy-to-apply (all you need are finger tips!) product that I can see myself using for quite a long time. Buy through Sephora for $42.

I love Laura Mercier products. I’ve been using the tinted moisturizer for a few years now, and its one of my beauty staples. For the comment about normal – oily skin, Laura Mercier did come out with an OIL-FREE tinted moisturizer that’s in a dark chocolate brown tube. Works just the same, but probably would be great for the girls with oilier skin. If you have normal skin and want the dewy look say with the original, and if you want a more matte look, go for the oil-free version.

I always get excited when I read beauty product reviews. I’ve heard lots of raves about this tinted moisturizer in The Beauty Bar. Maybe I’ll have to try it out?

Wow, they made an illuminating version! I have combo skin but sounds like it would be great to mix with the regular TM! Thanks, Amanda!

Laura Mercier’s TM was in the running with Dior for my HG TM, but I prefer Dior’s. I can get kind of shiny skin and the DR gives me a slight glow without looking too shiny :)

I have used Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer for many years(at least 5). Love Love Love this!! I have combo skin trending toward oily and the tan regular moisturizer works for me. It evens out my ruddy skin tones but feels light and not at all greasy!I use this instead of faoundation so I will probably pass on the illuminating moisturizer at least until winter skin sets in! Another reason to hate winter!

I too have been using this for a few years and love it. I have oily skin so I use the oil free version. I use the primer first (which is also oil free) then the tinted moisturizer. Love all of LM products!!

Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer ranks at the top on my list of beauty products. I have been using it since it first came out. My face is very red on my cheeks and nose. This tinted moisturizer covers it up entirely without making me itch, like most foundations do. I can’t recommend it enough.

Ditto with me. I have extremely sensitive skin and find foundations are too itchy in general. Laura Mercier’s TM works perfectly fine for me so far. Can’t wait to try on this new illuminated version for the extra youth appearance.. :)

I use the oil-free TM in Nude & have for years.

I used to be a full coverage foundation gal (most recently Armani) but I switched to the LMTM a couple fo years ago & find that with my Creme de la Mer moisturizer (gel in summer/creme in winter)), LM primer (I don’t always remember to use it), TM & a little powder, I’m good to go. On weekends, it’s moisturizer & powder & red lipstick. I use a lot of LM eye products as well. I like her products, consistency, colors & price point.
