Want It Wednesday – November 20

Did you know that Thanksgiving is next week? I genuinely did not have any idea that was the case until yesterday, when one of my PurseBlog teammates hauled me into the present and reminded me that the end of the year is hurtling at us at a fever pitch. That sounds kind of intimidating, right? I think it does, so let’s slow it down, even if it’s only for a few minutes, with our customary Want It Wednesday festivities.

Purseonals: Coach Borough Bag

I’ve been so in love with the Coach Borough Bags since they first debuted, and since I added one to my collection, the bag has made its way into my regular rotation. Even salespeople at high-end stores have asked question about my Borough, and when I noticed how much attention it’s received, I realized I needed to give it a spot in our Purseonals lineup.

This bag is a different direction for the brand, but celebrities and longtime Coach lovers alike have let the Coach Borough onto their arms and into their hearts. See how it scores in our Purseonals ratings below.

Pick Up a $150,000 Hermes Saddle for Charity

I always forget something at Duane Reade. Dry shampoo, Diet Coke, toilet paper, Ziploc bags…that’s everything, right? And then I get home and realize that, duh, I forgot to throw a handmade Hermes Cavale Saddle in my basket. Conviently, Sotheby’s, Apple creative head Johnny Ive and legendary designer Marc Newson have joined forces to make one such Hermes saddle available to support a very worthy cause during the 2013 (RED) Auction. It’ll match the horse that I ride to my subway stop perfectly.

This Christopher Kane Clutch is Perfect for the Non-Traditional Holiday Partygoer

As much fun as the holidays are, they can be a tad…stylistically stifling. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s Eve each have their own set of heavily ingrained visual cues and references, complete with predetermined color palettes and textures. Predictability can be comforting and times, and there’s something to be said for tradition, certainly, but if you’re a non-traditional girl, you probably still want to feel like yourself while you get in the spirit with your family and friends. I’m wholeheartedly with you on that one, and I’d like this Christopher Kane Black Embroidered Sheer Crackle Clutch to be with me.

A Comprehensive Guide to Personalized Designer Handbags

Luxury accessories have an exclusivity problem. Because handbags are generally among a company’s most profitable and marketable product categories, most brands want (and need) to sell them hand over first in order to stay on the seasonal fashion treadmill. That’s a bit tricky, though, because one of the things luxury customers look for most in a new purchase is a sense of exclusivity; how do you sell lots of bags while still making every bag-buyer feel like she’s the only person in the world who has a particular piece? Lately, the answer is to turn a retail product into a one-of-a-kind handbag with the addition of the owner’s name or initials.
