Balenciaga introduces a new shape in its celeb-favorite Motorcycle Bags every couple of seasons, but I can’t remember the last time a new Bal excited me as much as the Balenciaga Mini City Bag. Spring’s just around the corner (that sounds like a lie, but it isn’t we promise), which means we’re all looking for a bright little bag to carry our warm-weather essentials, and this new crossbody model might be just the ticket.
Every now and then, I see a bag and immediately know that I definitely, without a doubt, need to have it and would love it forever; that happened for me during the 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2013 show. The bag was the 3.1 Phillip Lim Ryder Satchel with a thatch of olive rabbit hair on the front, and luckily for me, that piece is available during the brand’s Moda Operandi pre-sale, which runs through March 5, along with a lot of great pieces from the collection.
Victoria’s Secret model/rock n’ roll wifey Lily Aldridge was recently spotted in NYC quite expertly matching two of THE hottest and most coveted designer pieces currently on the market – a black and leopard print Celine Luggage Tote and a pair of Chloe Susanna Booties. Pairing animal prints and gold hardware sounds insanely tacky, but a heavy-handed sprinkling of each works well with this casual outfit.
Now that the Brandi-versus-Adrienne kerfuffle seems to be more or less resolved (for the show’s purposes, at least), what are we to do with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills now? Bravo’s answer to that seems to be, “Why, go to Paris, of course,” but it seemed to be an entirely arbitrary decision on the part of the cast, based only on the fact that Yolanda was headed there and Lisa was going to be in St.
While we’ve been busily chronicling the best handbags of fashion weeks around the world here at PurseBlog, we’ve also been keeping our sister site TalkShoes updated with everything from Prada Fall 2013′s stellar shoes to the latest trends in spring footwear. (Hint: holograms and see-through straps.)
Ahh, the Oscars! There’s nothing like a good red carpet, and the 2013 Academy Awards didn’t disappoint when it came to interesting evening bags. (Although, in our opinion, the clothes were better at the Golden Globes.) Roger Vivier once again won the night, but there was a pleasant amount of variation among the attendees.
One big trend that you almost couldn’t escape was actresses who matched their clutches exactly to the color of their dresses.
Big shocker, you guys, but Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana? They’re from Italy, and they’d like you to know more about it. In fact, Dolce & Gabbana has been telling you about it for seasons, often through extremely literal handbag embellishments and occasional pasta jewelry. For Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013, we have actual mosaics in purse form.
The influences on this collection are actually both Sicilian and Byzantine, but the goal is clear – to make clothes, shoes and bags that are rich in Italian history and the Italianate aesthetic.

I love expensive bags just as much as the next girl, but just because I talk about them often doesn’t mean they magically appear on my doorstep when I wake up. I might not be the best deal hunter, but I am great at finding beautiful bags at great prices. Lately, my go-to has been BCBGMAXAZRIA, who continues to prove that a great design doesn’t always need to cost thousands of dollars.
