To be perfectly honest, last night’s episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills felt like a bit of a waste of time. We got the run-up to the stripping, the run-up to Kim’s nose job and the run-up to some sort of weird dinner fight between Camille and Yolanda (and then Camille and Lisa), but very little in the way of actual action.

So here’s something interesting: At the Golden Globe Awards two weeks ago, our expert analysis (that would be me, squinting at paparazzi photos for several hours) found that Roger Vivier’s evening bags won the day as handbag of choice for the widest variety of starlets. At Sunday night’s 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, on the other hand, Judith Leiber was by almost everyone’s side.
One of my absolutely favorite things is when a designer I already know and love starts designing handbags that I can get behind. It’s such an amazing feeling to see a great designer take on the accessory world and do well, and when it happens, I follow closely. The Rag & Bone aesthetic is right up my alley, with a downtown, cool-girl vibe for an everyday wearable line.
Fortunately for everyone who loves handbags, Valentino has been absolutely killing it lately. The Rockstud collection is as popular as ever, the new bags that come out every season are somehow more covetable than the ones that came before them, and the brand seems to have really found its overall aesthetic stride. Valentino looks very Valentino lately, and that’s a wonderful thing.

I’ve owed you all a Purseonals for quite some time, and although it’s been a while, I think this particular Purseonal is worth the wait. I fell in love with Gucci all over again this fall and winter, so much so that my current go-to bag is my Gucci Lady Stirrup Top Handle Bag. Finished in the perfect burgundy hue, this bag combines a structured ladylike design with touches of classic Gucci that are familiar and well-loved.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve had an occasion to talk about Christian Louboutin’s handbags. While not nearly as omnipresent as his platform pumps, the bags do have their own unique appeal. (No bright red bottoms though, just bright red lining. Which was definitely an oversight on someone’s part, I think.) Here’s actress Emmy Rossum, star of Showtime’s Shameless and the upcoming flick Beautiful Creatures, shopping in West Hollywood with her burgundy and black Christian Louboutin Farida Tote.
There’s no accurate word to describe the folks in the Chanel accessories department except for “busy.” Not only does Chanel do four big collections per year like most brands of a similar stature, but each spring and fall has its own small pre-collection, which are separate from the traditional pre-fall and cruise lines. That’s a ton of bags, much to the delight of Chanel cabal of ultra-loyal customers.
For reasons that are perhaps obvious, I don’t follow men’s fashion as closely as I do women’s, but I love to look through the looks after the Louis Vuitton men’s show every season. Vuitton is a unique brand in that it has almost equal appeal to both genders; where most companies specialize, Vuitton achieves equal-opportunity luxury. When you take a look through these pictures of the bags, shoes and accessories from Louis Vuitton Fall 2013, it’s not difficult to see why no one can get enough LV.
As smartphone screens (and by extension, the smartphones they’re attached to) get larger, it seems like clutches are getting smaller. Sure, I can take the case off my iPhone and wedge it into most of them, but then I have a naked iPhone! Don’t these people know how much anxiety a naked iPhone gives me? I worked in an electronics store in college.
