Irina Shayk (Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, generally gorgeous person, and girlfriend of pro soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo) was recently spotted in NYC carrying a chic emerald green Celine Horizontal Zipper Cabas Tote and balling up what looks to be her Louis Vuitton Monogram Voile Shawl. If you’ve never encountered this particular bag before and are puzzled by the existence of a designer bag with zippers at the corners, allow me to put your mind at ease – the zippers unzip to reveal the bag’s gussets, not the bag’s interior.

Have you ever taken one look at a collection at handbags and thought that somehow, the designer is listening to your thoughts and plotting to make you and you alone spend all of your money on bags? It doesn’t happen often, but that’s what I felt as soon as I saw the bags from Valentino Pre-Fall 2013, which is up for pre-sale at Moda Operandi through February 3.
I’ve always been a big fan of Bethenny Frankel, the sometimes-controversial former star of Real Housewives of New York who parlayed her reality TV fame into a booze-for-girls brand that she sold for a reported $120 million last year. She’s funny, direct and willing to cop to most of her flaws – that’s about all I ask from someone on a reality show, personally.
There are few brands from which I will happily buy monogrammed pieces, and Louis Vuitton is one of them. It’s not that I actively seek LV out, but somehow, it seems to seek me out – Louis Vuitton just does that to me. The brand has reinvented its monogram in so many ways that it never feels old to me, which is a pretty neat trick on the part of the brand’s designers.
Today we have Lisa Vanderpump (of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules) on her way in to castmate Brandi Glanville’s book party for Drinking & Tweeting (aka the story of my life) in Beverly Hills. Her blindingly beautiful (almost literally) bag is none other than the Valentino Glam Lock Large Shoulder Bag. We were excited to see these pics, because we’ve never seen this Valentino bag in such a mondo size.
I’m a jewelry girl, but I’m not a jewelry girl. When it comes to accessories, I will always opt to splurge on handbags before shoes or jewelry. When it is time to buy some jewels, I love a trendy statement piece and I don’t seek out precious stones or solid gold. However, if I were to do so, I might turn to Hermes Exceptional Jewelry – when you have hundreds of thousands of imaginary dollars to spend on jewelry and you already love the Hermes brand, then why not?
They’re here, they’re here, they’re finally here! Gucci Spring 2013 handbags, that is. I’ve been waiting for this collection to drop since it debuted on the runway last fall, and that day has finally come. Lucky for me, the bags are just as bright, fresh and modern as they felt way back in September.
Most of the bags fall under what Gucci has dubbed the Bright Bit collection, which includes ultra-streamlined clutches, shoulder bags and totes in, you guessed it, bright colors.
Are you in the market for a handmade, highly expensive piece of art that doubles as a clutch and allows onlookers a small peek into the condition of your psyche, or at the very least, into your opinion of yourself? Well, you’re in luck. We’ve mentioned Jimmy Choo’s recent collaboration with pop artist Rob Pruitt before, but somehow, we neglected to highlight the Jimmy Choo x Robb Pruitt Limited Edition Angel and Devil Crystal Minaudieres, which cost $15,000 apiece, until now.
It seems so hard to pop into the handbag world out of nowhere and grab hold of enough attention to get things going, but sometimes designers manage to make that happen; at the moment, Belstaff is on a roll. Don’t be confused, Belstaff has been making men’s and women’s bags and shoes since 1924, but in the past few months the revival has been amazing.
Twilight star Ashley Greene was recently snapped carrying an oxblood Chanel Cerf Tote while leaving the gym in LA. (What ever happened to ye olde gym bag?) Interestingly enough, this is the same bag we spotted Joan Rivers with earlier this month, proving that Chanel works with either luxe furs or tie dye tees. (Though some of you might find the latter debatable.) Chanel bags, as you know, are only available from Chanel boutiques and high end department stores.
