Earlier this week, the PurseBlog Team along with over a third of our country was and continues to be affected by the devastating Superstorm Sandy. We fared extremely well and feel very lucky, but others are still struggling.
And now, here’s an adorable little something to get your mind off this increasingly frustrating Frankenstorm aftermath. Gossip Girl‘s Kelly Rutherford was recently spotted balancing a teensy Maltese on top of her Hermes Evelyne bag – though from the looks of it, he could’ve fit neatly inside.
Megs and I have had our eyes on the Mulberry Zigzag bag ever since it came down the runway in several sizes and colors back in February, and now that it’s available at retail, we have some deciding to do.
Proof positive that extreme wealth and power make one blithely immune to criticism or self censure – Oprah took to the streets of NYC Thursday evening donning fuzzy green frog slippers, and wielding a beige Celine Luggage Tote, which we can only hope contained a pair of real shoes.
We’ve showered a bit of love on another of Matthew Williamson’s clutches in the recent past, but now that I’ve seen the Matthew Williamson Bead-Embellished Suede Clutch, I feel the need to do it again. The last clutch was a hippie-chic take on opulent brocade, but this design approaches from the opposite direction: it’s a modernist take on the classic hippie look.
I hope each and every one of you is safe and sound with Sandy pounding the Eastern US. If you still have power, you may want to cheer yourself up by checking out the Bottega Veneta sale thats about to start on Rue La La. I have to say, I am impressed. HUGE variety of knot clutches, cosmetics bags, pouches and hobos in a ton of colors. It’s like an intrecciato bonanza!
Earlier this week, Vlad and I popped down to the West Village to preview the much-hyped Jimmy Choo x Rob Pruitt launch at the brand’s boutique. I knew of Rob Pruitt’s work, but seeing how it would translate onto bags and shoes had me wondering.
About a quarter of the country is being affected by what has been dubbed Frankenstorm Sandy. We are prepared and have our apartment as ready as possible, so now we just sit and wait. Unfortunately, I expect power and internet to go out.
Usually for Man Bag Monday, we talk about the bags you (or your man) should buy. We’ve seen some beautiful choices recently – Valextra, Lanvin, Givenchy. They’ve been so beautiful, in fact, that an unsuspecting first-time man bag shopper might get the impression that choosing a good bag is idiot-proof.
Some of our absolute favorite designers are also the most difficult to shop, whether you’re online or in-store. It’s hard to talk so much about Hermes and Chanel while not always having a place to tell you where to track down a bag of your own.
Nothing says “keepin’ it real” like a pair of sneaks, sunglasses, a bright orange tracksuit, and a matching crocodile Hermes Birkin bag. Jennifer Lopez and boy toy Casper Smart were also keeping it exceptionally casual while doing a little shopping in London this week.
It’s been a decade since Alber Elbaz joined Lanvin, and since his start the brand has taken a turn for the better. More people recognize Lanvin and consider it a brilliant collection, myself included. To celebrate his first ten years, Lanvin is launching a celebratory capsule collection.
