Fendi gets the littlest handbag lovers started early

Babies might be too little to carry real handbags for a few reasons (among them: weak shoulders, frustratingly limited motor skills, lack of personal possessions that require carrying), but that doesn’t mean that their uber-fashionable mamas shouldn’t kit them out in their own image, all the way down to a baby-scaled representation of their own handbags. Thus, we present the Fendi Baguette Bag Tee, intended for discerning infants three to nine months old.

Boy oh boy, I’d really love a Boy Chanel Bag

We’ve given tons and tons of love to Boy Chanel Bags, and each and every positive word is well deserved. I wasn’t sure upon first look if I was a fan of the more subdued and casual bags, but after some time to ponder the design, I was hooked. It seems as though I’m not alone. In fact, Chanel has found a way to make the Boy Bags an integral part of its accessory offering.

Since it’s Wednesday, and all Wednesdays have a tendency to make me both happy for the upcoming weekend and a little bummed that it isn’t already Friday, I figured I’d share a drool-worthy gallery of Boy Chanel Bags. Honestly, if I had it my way, I would have an entire row of Boy Chanel bags in my closet, just waiting to be taken out and carried anywhere and everywhere. And if these Boy Bags don’t meet your fancy, try to take a peek at the Fall 2012 bags that will be released soon, major swoon!

What I Want: The Row Cat Eye Sunglasses

I spent last week on vacation in the Hamptons and enjoyed some much needed R&R. The Hamptons may have some parties happening, but for the most part, a getaway to the tip of Long Island means tons of down time. Vlad and I laid by the pool, read, ate, and slept. It may sound boring to some, but it was absolutely joyous. Because the sun was shining, one of my most important accessories for the trip was a pair of sunglasses. No matter where we went, it was just as important to me that I carried a fabulous bag and inside of it was a pair of sunnies.

My sunglasses collection has been steadily growing and this pair of The Row Cat Eye Acetate Sunglasses is currently on my want list. Not only are cat eye glasses still majorly on trend, but they are particularly complimentary to my face shape.

Nancy Gonzalez Resort 2013 is as sweet (and as fruity) as sherbet

Even though, in any particular season, Nancy Gonzalez’s bags range from clean and simple to incredibly intricate, one binding theme always remains: exotic skins, most notably crocodile, produced by the brand’s farms in Gonzalez’s native Colombia. The bags are also produced in Colombia, and the centralization of the brand’s operations allows Gonzalez to price her bags more reasonably than other brands tend to price similar materials. (If a $3000 handbag can ever be referred to as “reasonable,” that is, which is a debate unto itself. It’s relative, ok?)

In that tradition, Nancy Gonzalez Resort 2013 goes for a little bit of everything at once, including kitschy fruit charms, candy-colored ostrich, polka dots and austere black-and-white. The bags are all finished in Gonzalez’s signature exotics, of course, and the collection can be pre-ordered via Moda Operandi through tomorrow, July 25. Check out the collection after the jump!

Introducing: Bottega Veneta Intrecciomirage and Intrecciolusion

Over the last few years, I have become a full-fledged Bottega Veneta girl. I started with their handbags and slowly began adding shoes, and before I knew it I was buying their clothing as well. This is a brand I know and love and hands-down can proclaim that if I could, I would wear and carry Bottega Veneta every single day. As the brand has grown, so has its offerings. From home accents to furniture to jewelery, Bottega Veneta continues to expand into a luxury lifestyle brand.

Recently Bottega got us talking with its Initials Project, and now I am excited to talk about the introduction of Bottega Veneta Intrecciomirage and Intrecciolusion.

Weekend Obsession: Coach Legacy

A few months ago, Coach unveiled a return to its roots with the Coach Legacy collection of handbags and accessories. I spent a long while perusing the bags in all their color glory and realized that this is the Coach I knew and loved. This is the Coach I desperately wanted to see make a resurgence, and it has finally arrived. Good news: beautiful leathers in an array of colors have taken over Coach because the Legacy collection is now available for purchase.

From carnelian to sunflower to emerald to cobalt to neutrals to black to colorblock, there is every color, shape and variety of bag when it comes to the Coach Legacy Collection. The prices are also really fair, as even for a larger leather bag you will only reach the $500 mark, which is more in line with the Coach we’ve all known and loved in the past. While Coach has a fanbase that crosses generations and it produces items from Poppy to exotics, the re-release of the Legacy has brought back my love for Coach. It is all about the leather, the bag, and the design, and this is what started me off as a Coachie to begin with. Add a piece of Coach quality to your collection and shop the vast Legacy collection now at Coach.com.

Hailee Steinfeld carries the new Marc Jacobs Plexy Clutch

Vlad has been so antsy over the looming premiere of The Dark Knight Rises that if it weren’t for the fact that we’ve been out of town, I wouldn’t be surprised if Vlad set up a tent and camped out waiting for the premiere. I can’t blame him; though I am not as much of a movie buff as he is, I’m pretty amped up about this movie as well. It is said to be mind blowing and amazing, with equal parts of darkness matched with splendor.

At the much-anticipated movie premiere, the ever-adorable Hailee Steinfeld showed up on the red carpet looking perfectly put together in Marc Jacobs. The dress is cute on her, the shoes are alright, but my eyes immediately went to her clutch. Though Marc Jacobs is not one who’s known to releases hard-sided minaudiere-style clutches, he included one in his Resort 2013 collection and Hailee was lucky enough to carry it.

Blog Debates: Are It Bags Worth The Money?

In our little corner of the Internet, the answer to that question is, more often than not, a foregone conclusion: yes, duh. We’re all so desensitized to the thought of paying $1500 and up for a bag, even if you’ve never done it yourself, that sometimes I honestly forget that the vast majority of the population experiences sticker shock when confronted with how much a Celine Luggage Tote or Proenza Schouler PS1 costs. When the Luggage Totes first hit stores for $1750, I remember remarking to Megs that it sounded like a good deal.

The problem isn’t just price, though; it’s also ubiquity. For your bag money, do you also want to be unique? When a beautiful bag that you’ve always loved reaches a certain point of saturation, does it become less desirable to you, or do you buy what you love in spite of what other people are carrying? Earlier this week, Buzzfeed fashion editor Amy Odell took to the Internet to express her frustration with the idea of spending four figures to carry a distinctive bag that everyone else has. She’d rather carry a designer bag that’s distinctively unique, but is Odell just trading one kind of status for another?

Tom Ford handbags make their online debut

Oh, Tom Ford. The irrepressible, perfectly stubbled, always-tuxedo’d fashion icon debuted his eponymous line several seasons ago to much fanfare and even greater secrecy, and slowly, ever so slowly, the collection has started to leak out to more and more traditional retail channels. What we care about, of course, are the bags, and they’ve finally found their way to an online retailer for both our critical scrutiny and convenient shopping pleasure. There are few better ways to start a Friday morning.

It would be a little bit better if the designs themselves were more exciting, though. From someone like Tom Ford, I expected incredibly chic, anything-but-basic basics with exquisite details that would really set the collection apart. The bags are basic alright, but they don’t feel particularly distinctive; the company is missing an opportunity to make a very important branding statement that it has executed more effectively in its beauty and fragrance lines. As expected, the prices are high – think Bottega Veneta, if not a bit higher. Check out the high points of the collection after the jump or shop the full assortment via NeimanMarcus.com.

The Many Bags of Emma Stone

I have a small (ok, maybe not-so-small) girl crush on The Amazing Spider-Man star Emma Stone, and the picture above should explain exactly why I have such positive feels about her. In a world where we’re used to seeing dour, shielded faces in paparazzi shots, Stone doesn’t take herself too seriously. When one of our Twitter followers suggested earlier this week that we spotlight her for The Many Bags of…, I couldn’t resist. She’s smart, funny, down-to-earth, absolutely beautiful and seriously talented; what’s not to love?

Emma seems to be the kind of girl who takes to shoving things in her pockets instead of carrying a bag, but when she does, it’s usually something neutral and functional that leaves her hands free for her omnipresent coffee cup, which is often a metal travel mug brought from home. Celebrities: they’re just like us! Where Stone really shines (har har har, bad joke) is on the red carpet, where her clutch game is just about as tight as it comes. Check our tour of Emma’s bag collection after the jump.

New City, New Bag: Dare I carry Bottega on the subway?

Ladies and gents, I know it has been a little while (and try not to hold that against me too much), but I’m back. After some moving around, I’ve just settled into my new apartment here in New York City to rejoin the rest of the PurseBlog team. With any move comes its own laundry list of things with which one needs to become acclimated – new neighborhoods, new transportation, new accents. This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s made the leap to NYC themselves, but one of the biggest obstacles for me has been navigating the city, especially to and from work. You see, it’s not the subway system that has proven an issue. No, the issue has been finding what to carry! In a city like NYC, and for a girl like me, finding that perfect balance of fashion and function is a must. Could this Bottega Veneta Roma Intecciato Leather Tote be the answer to a NYC commuter’s prayers?
