Mother’s Day is just around the corner. This year my mom will be getting a gift from me that is not a handbag, which is out of the norm, but I am sure she will love the gift! We will be spending Mother’s Day flying back from Madrid to Fort Lauderdale, so it will all be about airplane food, movies, and talking. For those of you that are looking for a handbag for your Mom this Mother’s Day (or for yourself, because you deserve it), Delcina is offering a two-day only Mother’s Day Promotion. The promo is run very similarly to Saks’ Spend Some Get Some, offering money back to you after you spend a certain amount. Check out great bags from Rebecca Minkoff, Gerard Darel, and Gadino. Visit Delcina online and buy something for your mom and yourself and get something back!
Most of my obsession with Tod’s comes from their shoes. While their bags are lovely, it is their perfect fitting comfortable shoes that do me in. I wish I could say I have a closet full of Tod’s shoes, but I do not. Vlad owns two pair that he bought while we were in Venice last year and loves them! Recently I have fallen in love with the Tod’s Goa Bag and right after fell in love with the Tod’s Softy Bags when I got to feel them and try them on in the stores. There is an understated elegance that Tod’s exudes, nothing too over the top, rather simple designs staying true to the brand and adding the perfect touch each time. The Tod’s Softy Bag features textured soft leather with a braided double handle. There is an inside zipped pocket and dimensions are 15″W X 11½”H X 3¼”D. This bag is the most stay-worthy from Tod’s for the season. Lucky for you it is also marked down at Saks! Originally $1650, buy through Saks for $1155.
… I know, you already know. I got the messages on Face Book, the text messages to my phone, the emails are piling, and I keep staring at Vlad wondering when this ‘update‘ will be fixed. To be honest, I haven’t a clue and he is looking quite stressed. But the update is for the good. He says it should be up within a few hours as Vlad and the techs “finalize some complications that occurred after fixing a hardware failure”.
We’re happy to announce that tPF is back up. Sorry for the wait!
On Thursday, my mom, brother, and I will be flying to Madrid. I am literally not in one place for more than a week lately. It is a little crazy but of course amazing. And this trip is strictly pleasure, just vacation, but that is not to say that I won’t be doing a little handbag browsing. There is one event that I will miss while traveling but would have loved to attend; the Jada Loveless Trunk Show and Personal Appearance. I first was introduced to Jada Loveless bags when watching Lipstick Jungle. I fell head over heels in love with the Jada Loveless Isabel Clutch, which is designed with beautiful alligator skin and precious stones (including rubies). Jada’s pieces are one of a kind and are exquisite artwork. Her meticulously crafted clutches are ideal for a night out, an event party, or a black tie affair. Find more information on bags from her new season line and information on the Trunk Show and Personal Appearance below or through Jada Loveless online. If any of you can make it, please let us know how it goes! I have spoken with Jada over email but would love to meet her in person. (more…)
It is about time there is a good sale out there. Sure there have been sales, but none with handbags marked down to prices that I like. Finally Saks has stepped up and has another Designer Sale going on. The sale only lasts through April 30th online but you can receive up to 40% on women’s and men’s selections. Check out the handbag selection. I will be posting my favorite markdowns tomorrow, but what do you see that you love?
I don’t typically turn to celebrities for style advice. But I do love to see what they wear, and there are a few celebrities whose style catches my eye and makes me look at a bag differently. Jessica Simpson is not on the top of my role model or style icon list, but when she wore the Jimmy Choo Saba I fell in love with it even more. I will give myself credit that I enjoyed the bag before Jessica wore it, but really loved to see it on her in person. I ran to the boutique and tried the bag on. It was not super heavy, the leather was divine, and the slouch was perfect. The leather versions are great, but I wanted something more, I wanted the extra pizazz. If you are looking for pizazz, the Jimmy Choo Zebra Print Saba has exactly that. The brown and white ponyskin zebra print give the bag a very sexy factor. Many animal prints add a spice to your outfit or accessory. I am a huge fan of leopard and zebra print shoes, and I am thinking of venturing this love into the bag world. Another great addition is the bangle bracelets on the strap, which really are the focal point of the bag. The inside is lined in sand suede and there is a zip internal pocket. There are two problems. Number one, the bag is sold out. Number two, the bag costs $3395 via NAP. That is a steep price to pay, but it is also a sassy bag, and it looks like enough people loved it to buy it. Keep checking with Net A Porter to see if they restock, but this bag is also available in black nappa leather for $2450 via Saks.
Louis Vuitton has proven in the past that they do not take it lightly when their intellectual property rights are violated. Evidence of this is the recent lawsuit in which Louis Vuitton successfully sued Sony BMG and MTV online. Louis Vuitton is now suing Nadia Plenser, a Danish student artist and designer, over her “Simple Living” campaign, a fundraiser that benefits the Divest for Darfur organization.
Plenser drew an image of a young Darfur child holding a Tinkerbell-like dog and sporting a designer bag, made to resemble the famous Louis Vuitton’s Murakami Multicolore canvas pattern. Her goal was to imitate the constant media coverage that celebrities like Paris Hilton were getting and giving it to those who really deserved and needed it. Her image has been selling on t-shirts and posters, raising money for the good cause.
Problem is, LV is not exactly fond of the campaign, despite 100% of Plenser’s profits are being donated straight to Divest for Dafur. Vuitton sent her a C&D letter in February, which was followed by a lawsuit on April 15th:
Louis Vuitton now demands $7,500 (5,000 Euro) for each day she continues to sell Simple Life products, $7,500 for each day their letter is published on the website and $7,500 a day for using the name ‘Louis Vuitton’ on her website. In addition they want her to pay their lawyer costs and $15,000 to cover other expenses they have incurred in protecting their ‘intellectual property’.
How do you feel about this lawsuit? Property rights infringement and defending of LV’s trademark or artist’s freedom of expression and frivolous lawsuit?
You can not get away from the bright bold colors of spring. Even the shapes are bold, geometric, and memorable. At times some of the colors look like a crayon box gone awry and other times it is the perfect mix of colors on a blank palette. A similar color scheme was used in the Chloe Saskia Pouchette and while many of you were not fans, I was oddly lured in. But this time with the cleaner lines, more striking allure, and bold colors, I am just ‘ehh’ with the Chloe Ines Box Clutch. It could be the fact that this clutch is a whopping $1380, which to me is becoming norm but still is extravagantly pricey. Or it is the fact that this bag has no wow factor. The red and pink color blocking does stand out, the shape can be considered classic, but I am not completely lured in. A major perk though is the wrist strap and I am always a fan of fold over tops. For this season it is very stylish, but for me personally, it is just not striking my fancy. Then again, this has been a long stressful day already so my mood is just mediocre, which could leave my opinion of this bag off. Am I on or am I off? Buy through Net A Porter for $1380.
Vlad and I lucked out amazingly for our trip in NYC this week with the weather. I am talking about weather that makes Florida right now look bad, as Florida is a tad too hot already. It was mid 60’s, sunshine, a mini breeze, beautiful tulips, blooming trees, and blue skies. Apparently this weekend it is supposed to rain. That must mean those in charge of the weather gave me a treat, especially after my health scare last week, which was much needed. The typical New Yorker black has finally transitioned into some pops of colors, which I love. I wore yellow jeans and green pants and paired them with and orange scarf. I kept my tank tops basic solid colors, but I was so wishing I had a funky handbag to carry around. It is all about multicolor this spring. We have the Louis Vuitton Watercolor Speedy (officially due to arrive May 1st) and the Fendi Rainbow Clutch (which is sold out at Net A Porter but also due to arrive shortly in boutiques). Now we have the glorious brightly colored VBH Python Box Clutch which also has my heart. The dyes are like the perfect tie-dye shirt ever made, bright and bold but mixing together wonderfully. This is the accessory to dress up an outfit. But don’t get on the ‘what were they thinking list‘. Pair a bold accessory like this with solid pieces. I am actually a little bit obsessed with this bag, just as much as I am obsessed with the weather NYC gave us this past week. Buy through Net A Porter for $1250.
