We recently learned from Chanel that Christy Turlington will be the face for their Spring handbag campaign of the “East-West Bag”, as photographed by none other than Karl Lagerfeld. Christy became famous in the late 80s as a model for Calvin Klein, still pulls off gorgeous looks twenty years later.
Lindsay Lohan and her python bag
I am delighted that we have not seen *much* of Lindsay Lohan after her countless problems and rehab stint. Sure we saw here in Italy with many Italian men, and here and there in the clubs drinking some grape juice with a kick, but she has been laying low (all things considered). I miss oogling her handbag collection. Love her or hate it, admit it, she has quite the amazing collection. I always wondered how the girl from The Parent Trap had one of the hottest and most extensive handbag collections that I have seen, and that is just from the paparazzi photos. Many times she wears recognizable brands, like YSL, but the new designer on the block, Rebecca Minkoff, has also been a fan of Lindsay’s when she wore the Morning After Bag. And again, Lindsay has opted for a handbag that is hard to identify but hard to miss. The black and white diamond shapes on the python skin bag jump out and catch your attention. But what bag is this? Help me out, and Name that Bag!! [image via Splash News]

Kate Moss with her Green Croc Bag
There is something so stunning about a pop of color on an exotic bag. Hermes does color amazingly and many other brands continue to work on their ability to color their leathers and materials perfectly. Kate Moss has been causing quite the stir when she was spotted toting a Green Crocodile Bag. At first a member on our forum labeled it as Hermes, but from a better angle it became clear it is indeed not Hermes. Clearly, the second choice answer is Mulberry, as this bag resembles the Mulberry Bayswater bag. But look closely. The Mulberry Bayswater has an inch wide strip of leather coming down from each of the handles to the bottom. Kate’s bag does not. Some of the ladies on our Mulberry forum think the bag may be Asprey of London, which carries bags with a very similar look and a hearty price tag. The bag looks very similar to the Mulberry Bayswater, but indeed, upon closer inspection, the bag is very different. Designers at Mulberry could have indeed changed the bag up a bit for Moss, but it may also be the case that this bag is still not identified properly. Either way, it is a stunning piece of green crocodile which is swoon worthy!
After looking at the Bayswater and Kate’s Bag, what do you think? (more…)

Am I the only one that immediately thinks of Anchorman when I hear of a dog named Baxter? Ok, so maybe you did not like the movie, maybe you did not see it, but those of you that did will understand how hard it is to hear Baxter and not think of Will Ferrell’s trusty dog. I could not see Will carrying Baxter around in a pet carrier, but I know many people love to keep their pets with them at all times. Jessica Simpson has been one of the leading ladies seen carrying her pup Daisy in Louis Vuitton dog carrier. Now there is a new version released by Louis Vuitton, the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Sac Baxter PM which is designed with monogram canvas and trimmed with natural cowhide. This dog carrier looks more like a handbag from the front, sporting a flapped pouch pocket with polished golden brass hardware. The side panel unzips, folds over, and secures with snaps to give the perfect luxury room away from home for your pet. Measurements are 13.8″x 10.4″x 6.5″. I have only had one dog in my life, and he is a black lab who can not fit in a dog carrier. I am not sure that if I had a small dog I would take him/her around with me everywhere, but this is a great option for the owner who loves luxury and their pup. Buy through eLuxury for $1360.
The official handbag sponsor of the 50th Annual Grammy’s was The SAK. The SAK treated performers and presenters to a variety of their handbags, including a first shot at grabbing The SAK Ashbury Shopper in Graffiti. The bag will be available this spring, but the women of the red carpet got the first look and first chance to grab the bag. The print on the bag is one of peace and harmony and dedicated to supporting the environment. The SAK has teamed up to help The Nature Conservancy by auctioning off signed versions of the Ashbury Graffiti Shopper. The SAK will be auctioning off the signed bags on Charity Folks. Bidding is going on now! Stars that have signed bags for the auction include Miley Cyrus, Cyndi Lauper, Taylor Swift, The Foo Fighters, Plain White T’s and Amy Lee. Whether you are a rocker girl, a county guy, or one of millions that can not get Miley Cyrus concert tickets, check out the bags and support the cause! The auction ends on the 13th of March 2008.
Jimmy Choo’s Tamara Mellon teamed up with Richard Phillips to create two Limited Edition art bags for the Spring/Summer 08 handbag line. The first bag, the Jimmy Choo Face Canvas Bag, was not accepted widely by all of you. On the face bag, the four faces are taken from Phillips portrait Riot (1998). For the 70’s style Jimmy Choo Face Clutch, the sensual Richard Phillips Nuclear portrait is showcased on the smooth curves and red background of the bag. The frame of the clutch is made with Bakelite (resin) and gives off a very vintage look. For me, the clutch is a huge improvement from the tote. The tote is said to be a beach bag, and I just find it a bit creepy really. But the clutch is subtle and sensual, adding an artistic touch without being overboard. Pre-order through Saks for $595.
I have been a fan of this Mulberry bag from day one. It is small, practical, and cute. It is like the perfect tourist bag and the perfect bag if you do not have young children. Because while the dimensions of the Mulberry Antony Messenger Bag are decent (8″W x 10.5″H x 3″D), they are not quite large enough for the woman with young children who require hoards of carry-ons. This bag features black leather and golden hardware. The top has a flap closure with a clasp fastening, which is easy enough to get in and out of, and an adjustable canvas shoulder strap (18.5″ drop). When I say this is a great tourist bag, I mean for the tourist that is sensible. If you ever travel with me, you will notice, that I carry every single possible-possibility I may need. If you need Advil, an inhaler, Benadryl, 15 different lip glosses, three wallets, camera, batteries, map, water bottle, snack, etc. You can be assured that traveling with me means if there is a power outage and we are stuck in an elevator, we will be good for at least three days. So while this bag is not suitable for my travel needs (or daily needs for that matter), there are people out there much more practical when it comes to packing that this could work for. It is also great for the younger crowd that just does not need that big of a bag. Buy through NAP for $395.
Croc-embossed leather has the ability of looking pretty chic or looking cheap. I have run into many bags that are croc-embossed and pull it off beautifully. But those that do not, well they just look quite tacky if you ask me. From a photo stand point, the Furla Elisabeth Medium Shoulder Bag has a great croc-embossed leather look to it. The hobo-shaped bag sports this faux-croc in a purple shade, which is very seasonal but a nice shade nonetheless. I realize that spring is on its way, so the pastels are coming out, but I find this bags very hard to use for more than a few months which makes them a no-go for me. But if you like this color and don’t mind it not lasting for months at a time, this is a good bag at a good price. There is a detachable canvas shoulder strap along with a leather shoulder strap. Dimensions are 17″W X 15″H X 5″D. So tell us, do you go for pastel bags or steer clear because they can not be used enough? Buy through Saks for $555.
You don’t see much of Kate Winslet in the public eye. Here or there she is out and about, but she is not making headlines. And I assume this is just the way she likes it. She wants to just wear a loose fitting sweater and jeans and go about her daily life like the rest of ‘us’. She even wears Uggs, which are so comfortable but so hideous at the same time (Vlad hates them on me but when we were in Ohio I wore them constantly!!). Over the weekend, Kate decided not to go to the Oscars and lay low in New York City. Her bag of choice is the understated Tod’s Took Sacca Hobo in off-white, which is designed with calf skin leather and an adjustable shoulder strap. The handbag worked perfectly as Kate was out about in the City, offering ample room and a loose fit. There are two front flap pockets and one front zip pocket. Dimensions are 13″W X 12″H X 4½”D.
